Split Watermelon Design

studio update

02 September 2009

Welcome spring! We love the warm weather, sunshine and longer days. We also love the new trends, colours, fabrics, and designs that were springing up throughout a very inspiring August. The month was kicked off by Saturday in Design and Sydney Fashion Week 2009 kept the momentum going. As the SWD team enters September, look for fresh inspired schemes that are embracing the heightened sense of design that is in the air!

the designers' perspective

castle hill, level 1

After over a year of collaboration, SWD was excited to see the completion of Castle Hill RSL Club's level one bar & lounge. The scheme was born out of a need for a comfortable social oasis that would attract a hip and younger clientele. The focus on completely reinventing the space for the client’s new target market paved the way to a tailored yet quirky furnishing design scheme. This contradiction presented a classic and timeless canvas that becomes playful and fun through the addition of an assortment of colourful, patterned and textured fabrics on customised designed furniture. The resulting space has been such a success that the client contracted SWD to design the interiors for a new rib factory restaurant and a new cocktail lounge. Stay tuned!
