Split Watermelon Design

studio update

Tuesday 19 May, 2009

Welcome to the first installment of the SWD newsletter.  Things have been busy here on Great Buckingham Street as we anticipate the roll out of several projects we have been working on over the past year and enjoy the initial conceptual designs of new ventures.

Sue has just returned from a trip around the world full of great inspirational ideas and design insights that will surely positively influence our interiors proposals.  Carey was excited to visit Vietnam this month and take in some design inspiration opportunities, while Jessica is loving the challenge of putting her career to work on the refurbishment of her own house.

As we head into the autumn months, we look forward to the opening of the Koloora Ski Lodge in Perisher and Castle Hill RSL Club's new level one and outdoor terrace.

Mounties unveiled their new Triple Eight Lounge late last year.  Split Watermelon had the pleasure of executing the interior design for this renovation.  From creating new seating nodes to addressing ceiling fixtures with custom screens and procuring furnishings that tied together the feng-shui-friendly concept, the end result is a trendy lounge perfect for enjoying cocktails and relaxing with friends.

DESIGN FEATURES

Feature Ceiling – The ceiling of the lounge tops off the design by adding a new element of dimension and design creating an intimate and stylish ambiance.

Custom Designed Bar Front – The bar front is wrapped in onyx stone that is backlit to create a glowing effect that dramatizes the space and adds an element of interest to the gaming and lounge areas.

Back of Bar – The back of bar and its adjoining wall are finished in a gorgeous white stone-like material that offers a natural element and successfully merges and transitions patrons from various areas of the club.
